It is with great sadness to share with you the passing of Tom Walker.
Tom was one of the founding board members of the Laurel Surgical Foundation and he was instrumental in developing the support for our program from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
It was with Tom's backing and steady support that the Church was able to provide funding for a surgical eye microscope. This piece of equipment was the cornerstone in the development of the ophthalmology residency training program at the First Hospital in Mongolia.
Tom was a person that went through life, helping so many, in his modest and quiet manner.
Tom will be missed by all.
Respectfully yours,
Chip
LSF will be preparing to return to Mongolia in September 2022.
Ophthalmology Residency Training Program
Due to the Covid-19 global pandemic, LSF has not been able to travel to Mongolia since October 2019.
During this time, LSF has continued to support the Ophthalmology Residency Program at the First Hospital.
The Intermountain Research & Medical Foundation (formerly Deseret Foundation) acquired a slit lamp for the First Hospital. This is an essential equipment used to diagnose eye conditions.
